Prince Sigismund has grown up hearing fantastical stories about enchantments and faie spells, basilisks and dragons, knights errant and heroic quests. He'd love for them to be true — he's been sheltered in a country castle for most of his life and longs for adventure — but they are just stories. Or are they?
From the day that a mysterious lady in a fine carriage speaks to him through the castle gates, Sigismund's world starts to shift. He begins to dream of a girl wrapped, trapped, in thorns. He dreams of a palace, utterly still, waiting. He dreams of a man in red armor, riding a red horse — and then suddenly that man arrives at the castle!

Il principe Sigismondo è cresciuto ascoltando storie fantastiche su incantesimi e magie, basilischi e draghi, cavalieri erranti e missioni eroiche. Sperava davvero fossero reali – a lungo è vissuto al riparo in un castello del paese ed ha sete d’avventura - ma sono solo storie. Oppure no?
Dal giorno in cui una donna misteriosa in una bella carrozza gli parla attraverso i cancelli del castello, il mondo del principe inizia a cambiare. Egli comincia a sognare di una ragazza avvolta, intrappolata da spine. Sogna di un palazzo, completamente silenzioso, in attesa. Sogna di un uomo in armatura rossa, in groppa ad un cavallo rosso - e poi improvvisamente quell'uomo giunge al castello!
Sigismondo sta per imparare che a volte i sogni sono reali, che il mondo è sia più magico sia più pericoloso di quanto potesse immaginare e che la missione eroica che da ragazzo tanto agognava … inizia ora.
